The taste of Kathiyawad
Some Stories Are Best Told in Photographs.
A cart on a street. A family standing behind a counter. A bicycle carrying a box of sweets. These are the details that make our story personal.
The photographs below bring together different chapters of the JD Mithaiwala journey. They connect the sweets we share today with the people and places that came before us — a reminder that a familiar taste can carry years of memories.

1952
Where Our Story Begins.
Our album opens in Gondal in 1952. A wooden sweet cart, trays arranged for the day and a small group gathered around it: a simple scene at the beginning of a lasting story.
There is something special about looking back at this photograph. Before the storefront and the familiar sign, there were people and their everyday work. This is the first chapter we return to when we think about our roots.

1965
The People Behind the Counter.
In this photograph from Gondal in 1965, family members stand together behind a counter filled with sweets. Rows of mithai and a gathering of different ages make this more than a picture of a shop.
It is a glimpse of the people behind the name. To us, the image holds the warmth of being together and the connection between family life and the sweets shared across the counter.

1992
Sweet Memories Along the Way.
Our journey through the album takes us to Ahmedabad in 1992. A bicycle, a box of sweets and a narrow street give this photograph its own quiet character.
Some of the most meaningful memories are held in ordinary moments. This image brings another place into the story, connecting our Gondal roots with a chapter in Ahmedabad.

2008
A Face. A Counter. A Thousand Memories.
Back in Gondal in 2008, an elderly gentleman sits behind a carefully arranged display of sweets. The photograph is full of small details: the pale mithai, the blue counter and the shop entrance behind him.
For us, pictures like this give a tradition its human side. They remind us of the familiar faces and everyday moments that become part of a sweet shop’s story.

Today
A Warm Welcome to the Next Chapter.
Flowers, balloons and the JD Mithaiwala sign welcome us into the present. The storefront looks different from the first photograph in our album, while the connection to Kathiyawadi sweetness remains at the heart of our identity.
Today, we invite you to be part of the continuing story — through a familiar sweet, a thoughtful gift or a moment shared with the people you love.
The journey continues with you.
What we carry forward
A Familiar Taste. A Place in Your Memories.
Mithai has a way of belonging to life’s moments: a visit home, a festival morning, a family gathering or a small celebration at the end of an ordinary day.
As you look through our story, we hope you find something familiar in it. Our photographs are part of our album; the memories you make while sharing sweets become part of yours.
